Ming attended the 2019 Exotic Beam Summer School (EBSS) held at Oak Ridge National Laboratory, from June 23 to June 29. The school aims to introduce students and young researchers to the various facets of the science of exotic nuclei including nuclear structure, nuclear astrophysics, fundamental interactions, and the application of nuclear science and technology.
INL Summer Internship
Stuti receives a summer internship from Idaho National Laboratory (INL). She will be working on neutron detection using Bonner spheres in INL over the summer.
WYSE Camp
Daniel helps organize the World Youth in Science and Engineering camp, where high school students will be working on cloud chamber and photodetector experiment in NPRE from June 23 to June 29.
New student joins NML!
New student Noah Rebei joins the NML group through the High School Summer Research Program! He will be working on nuclear material hold-up from Jun 17 to July 19. Welcome, Noah!
New student joins NML!
New student Muzammil Siddiqui joins the NML group! Welcome, Muzammil!
Undergraduate Research Symposium 2019
Stuti Surani gives a poster presentation on the Monte Carlo Simulation of a Multisphere Neutron Spectrometer based on CLYC Detector at the Undergraduate Research Symposium (URS).
Purdue Conference on Active Nonproliferation
Prof. Di Fulvio attends the Purdue Conference on Active Nonproliferation hosted by The Institute of Nuclear Materials Management (INMM) at Purdue University.
Her talk entitled “Bayesian Unmixing Algorithms for Identification of Gamma Sources Using Organic Scintillators” is awarded the First Place Radiation Measurements Presentation Award. We thank CRANS and INMM for the award!
Prof. Di Fulvio joins ACDIS
Prof. Di Fulvio is excited to join the faculty of the Program in Arms Control & Domestic and International Security (ACDIS), an interdisciplinary venture at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign that facilitates objective research, academics, and outreach about international security issues within the academic and policymaking communities.
ACDIS successfully integrates insights generated by scholars from engineering, natural sciences, social sciences, and humanities to produce comprehensive analyses that do not reduce security issues to singular and simplifying explanations. International security challenges are approached as complex phenomena that can only be understood through examination of multiple causes and impacts.
EURADOS WG9 meeting
21 Sep 2018
Prof. Di Fulvio (NML) participates to the Annual Meeting of the EURADOS working group 9, to discuss and perform experiments to characterize secondary neutron production in emerging grid-collimated proton therapy treatments using multiple detection systems.
Many thanks to Dr. Pawel Olko, Dr. Renata Kopeć, Dr. Liliana Stolarczyk and all colleagues in the Krakow for hosting the meeting and for their hard work in preparation for the successful experiments!
